Joan Watson Joan, 50, works as a senior administrator for the NHS
"I don't believe in convenience foods. I prefer to cook from scratch using fresh ingredients, and I can do this in just 20 minutes – for example, chunky lentil and vegetable soup or meatballs with tomato sauce. I have three handy tools to speed up my preparation and cooking: a tube of minced garlic, an occasional tin of tomatoes and my Nicer Dicer, which chops vegetables into batons and speeds up their cooking time. I'm cooking for one, so I double the quantity and have the leftovers the next evening, adding a different flavouring, to give it a new taste."

Lorna Smith Lorna, 65, a retired teacher, lives with her husband
"The best convenience foods for me are those that help me prepare tasty meals for myself and my husband. One of our favourites is spaghetti bolognese, made with Weight Watchers Bolognese with Red Wine Sauce. We also like chicken tikka masala. I add Weight Watchers Tikka Masala Sauce to some chicken and serve it with Weight Watchers Mini Plain Naan Breads and a combination of half rice, half cauliflower. 'I have problems with my hands, so I use prepared vegetables. And I often speed up lunch preparation by adding meat from the previous night's meal or a tin of tuna to our salad."

Lisa Sinfield Lisa, 32, works as a secretary
"I rely a lot on convenience food to support me in my weight loss journey. I go to the gym four times a week, so I often come home late and need quick and easy food options. I live on my own, so dinners are usually tinned soup with Weight Watchers petits pains, Weight Watchers chilled prepared meals (and meals from other ranges that have the ProPoints values worked out), Weight Watchers premium pork sausages and quiches. I serve them with frozen vegetables. 'I don't often have the time to batch-cook meals, so the range of convenience foods available is essential for me to be able to stick to the plan."
